How does Kilevo calculate the miles for each trip?

Kilevo calculates the driving distance between your starting address and the appointment location with Google Maps, like a car route, then doubles it if the trip is a round trip. With the United States as your country, distances are shown in miles.

In order:

  1. The location written in your calendar is first turned into a precise address, searching near your home rather than anywhere in the country.
  2. The distance is measured by road between the starting point and that address.
  3. It is multiplied by two for a round trip, or chained from stop to stop in a tour.
  4. Once written, the distance no longer moves: later syncs keep it, unless the location changes in the calendar.

When Kilevo is unsure about the location, it tells you with the To check badge and lets you confirm or fix it. When it cannot find the location, it does not invent a distance.

You can test the calculation without an account with the mileage calculator, and read how miles become a mileage reimbursement on the automatic calculation page.
